“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17) A striking thought to observe in our opening verse is that it tells us how faith comes; it’s by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Notice it didn’t say “faith cometh by having heard the Word”; but by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” The emphasis is on “hearing,” that is, the continued bombardment of your spirit with the Word of God. That’s what produces prevailing faith, the faith that always works. Faith always works! If it didn’t work, it wasn’t faith. For your faith to prevail all the time, you need to feed on the Word. You need to keep bombarding your spirit with the Word until it literally oozes out of your entire being! That’s how to grow prevailing faith; you have to get the Word into your system so much that you can only think, talk and live the Word!

“We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak” (2 Corinthians 4:13). Your faith proclamation of God’s Word strengthens your spirit and causes the Word to be active in your life. Your confessions of faith change and transform you, causing you to experience the realities of the Gospel; therefore, you ought to boldly proclaim the Word in faith. There’s power and life in the Word, which gives it the ability to change hopeless situations and cause circumstances to conform to God’s plans and purposes when applied. Hebrews 13:5-6 says, “…for he hath said …So that we may boldly say…” Here we are taught to boldly make faith proclamations; Jesus also taught us the same when He said in Mark 11:23, “you shall have what you say.” When you speak God’s Word in faith, the Spirit of God incubates upon it and brings it to pass. Romans 10:17 says “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” This means the more of God’s Word you receive into your spirit, meditate on, and put to work, the greater your faith. Neglecting to fill your heart with the Word will cause the challenges of life to overwhelm you, and cause you to faint in the day of adversity.  “For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). When the Bible uses the term ‘whosoever,’ it means anybody! Anybody can call on the Name of the Lord and receive a miracle, but it must be a call of faith. God has great respect for faith. There’s no discrimination with Him; all you need do to receive a miracle is to make the call of faith. Reliving the lessons learned in the story of blind Bartimaeus, the Bible says, when he heard that Jesus Christ of Nazareth was passing by, he cried out to Jesus. And when it seemed as though he hadn’t caught the Lord’s attention, he cried out the more. He yelled out loud until the Lord couldn’t resist his call of faith and commanded him to be brought forward.
