HE LED CAPTIVITY CAPTIVE

“Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men” (Ephesians 4:8). The Apostle Paul quoted the opening verse from Psalms 68:18: “Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.” Notice that Paul said, “…he led captivity captive…” not, “he led captors captive.” Captivity here refers to the power, authority and activities of the captors. Their right and power to hold man in captivity was taken captive; that right was seized by Jesus! He took it from Satan and his cohorts; they don’t have it anymore; so “captivity” has been held captive! Today, no one should be legally held captive by Satan, sickness or disease; all you have to do is announce your freedom. This is why Paul, in the city of Lystra, could say to a man who was impotent in his feet, and had never walked from birth, “Sir, stand up!” Paul didn’t ev

READ YOUR RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL. ''THE AUTHENTIC CHRISTIAN LIFE'' FRIDAY,MARCH 4,2016

You may as well know this too, Timothy, that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian (2 Timothy 3:1 TLB). The Apostle Paul in the above text, warned of perilous times in the last days, and I want you to notice his choice of words. Notice that he didn’t say it’s going to be impossible to be a Christian in the last days; no! Rather, he uses the word, “difficult.” Why will many find it difficult to be Christians in these last days? It’s because of the challenges they would be facing, which really, shouldn’t be a problem if they’re in fellowship with the Holy Spirit. There’s no Christianity without the Holy Spirit; the only way to live the authentic Christian life is through the Holy Spirit. Irrespective of how nice, calm, or cool one might seem, if that person doesn’t have the Holy Spirit, he can’t live as a Christian. Human “goodness” or self-righteousness isn’t the definition of Christianity. Christianity is Christ alive and at work in you; Christ ta

SUPERNATURAL POWER TO EFFECT CHANGES

’’But you shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…’’ (Acts 1:8 NKJV). God has given us a life of glory and power in Christ Jesus. Our theme verse gives us important information about this life of power. It lets us know that through the Holy Spirit, we’ve been infused with supernatural power to effect positive changes in our lives and in our circumstances. The choice of words in Scripture is very important because except you understand God’s exact communication, you can’t apply His words to your personal life. In this instance, for example, the Lord Jesus said “…you shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit comes upon you….” The word “power” derives from the Greek word “dunamis,” which means power or ability to effect changes. It refers to miracle-working ability; the ability to make supernatural things happen. It also means the power of excellence. You received this supernatural power and ability when you received the Holy Spirit; a special ability to perfo

SPREAD HIS SWEET FRAGRANCE

But thanks be to God! For through what Christ has done, he has triumphed over us so that now wherever we go he uses us to tell others about the Lord and to spread the Gospel like a sweet perfume. As far as God is concerned there is a sweet, wholesome fragrance in our lives. It is the fragrance of Christ within us, an aroma to both the saved and the unsaved all around us (2 Corinthians 2:14-15 TLB) When someone wears a nice perfume, he gets compliments from others who inhale the sweetness of the perfume. As Christians we carry and spread God’s divine Presence such that people around us inhale the freshness, goodness, and greatness of God. Everywhere we go, that aroma of anointing follows us and brings God’s gladness and goodness to the people we meet. There’s something about you that’s so divine; there’s something about you that’s undeniable; there’s something about you that’s unquestionable; there’s something about you that’s irresistible - It is the Anointing of God’s Spirit th

But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God (Acts 20:24). Once, Paul was planning to go to Jerusalem to minister, but some people tried to stop him. They envisioned a lot of trouble for Paul, fearing he might be killed if he embarked on the trip. They reminded Paul of how so many in Jerusalem at the time hated him and wanted him dead. Read the opening verse again for his inspiring response. What a mindset! This shows his unselfish devotion to the Gospel. His commitment was so fervent that no threat could deter him. No wonder he said in 1 Corinthians 15:31, "...I die daily." He had a sentence of death on himself; his considerations weren't about his personal safety, but the task at hand: the propagation of the Gospel. Then in 2 Corinthians 12:10, he made another profound statement; he said,

READ RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL. DON'T DESPISE PROPHECY - PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME THURSDAY, MARCH 3RD 2016.

Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues (1 Corinthians 14:39). In Acts 2:17 Peter quoted the words of the prophet Joel: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy...." This was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came. In Acts 1:8, Jesus said you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. One of the ways to put that power to work is through the gift of prophecy. The gift of prophecy is a door to the supernatural; it's a way to bring the supernatural power of God into your life, finances, job, or congregation if you're a minister of the Gospel. Therefore, you must learn to prophecy! If you speak in tongues long enough, the anointing will come on you to prophesy; the Word of God will bubble up within you. And when that anointing comes on you, with the Word boiling inside you, give it vent;

LET GO AND LET GOD

Have you ever seen a butterfly? Or watched an early morning sunrise? Have you ever seen a flowing river? Or caught a peek at a rainbow? The Bible says in Romans 1 vs. 19-20 “…because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has shewed it onto them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” All the works of creation reveal the glory and power of God and speak a message so clear you cannot fail to hear. God went further and revealed Himself to us through His Son Jesus Christ. The scripture declares Him to be the very image of God, and the brightness of his glory. Jesus himself said “He that has seen me has seen the Father.” Through His death He showed us the way to fellowship with Him, and now He wants us to receive the divine life which Jesus made available so that He can reveal Himself in us, and through

HAPPY NEW MONTH! READ YOUR RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL. THE STRENGTHENER IN YOU - PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME TUESDAY, MARCH 1ST, 2016

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong (2 Corinthians 12:10). As a child of God, you're never without strength, because there's a strengthener in you—the Holy Spirit. He ministers to you as your Strengthener. He strengthens you so that while He's taking His own steps to ensure that everything works out right for you, you're also participating actively in the process, because He has to function through you. If you have the Holy Spirit in your life, weakness is no longer an option. Paul said in our opening verse, "...when I am weak, then am I strong." In other words, when he was bruised and battered, broken down by external forces, he was made even stronger by the power of the Holy Spirit; he was empowered with might from within. No wonder the Bible declares that we have this treasure in earthen vessels (2 Corinthians 4:7). Have y

READ YOUR RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL. HE DOESN'T CONVICT YOU OF SIN – PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME MONDAY, FEBRUARY 29TH, 2016.

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world (1 Corinthians 11:31-32). It's not the ministry of the Holy Spirit to convict God's people of sin. The Bible says the Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin, not the Church. For the Church, the Bible says, "For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged" (1 Corinthians 11:31). That means by our own spirits, we can tell when we've done something wrong, and our own spirits will judge us. We let our spirits judge us, so that we might not be judged of the Lord. Your spirit has the nature of God. When you do wrong, what you need is to act on the Word of God: receive forgiveness. You don't ask for forgiveness, which is where a lot of people miss it. The Bible didn't say that you ask for forgiveness; rather, it says in Hebrews 4:16, "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of g

THE PRAYER OF AGREEMENT

The prayer of agreement is one of the different kinds of prayer the Bible teaches on. This kind of Prayer involves two or more people joining their faith together and deciding to pray concerning anything in particular they desire. If for example, you want to effect a positive change in your job, family, health, or anything, call up someone who believes with you in the faith to pray in agreement with you. The prayer of agreement is a sure way to get results, but be sure to follow its rules. First, the Scripture says if any of two of you shall agree; meaning it involves two or more people. Then it says as touching anything that they shall ask; that means you must be specific. Finally, you must pray in faith and in line with the Word. Having done all that, you can be rest assured that your prayers would be answered. The Bible says, ‘…and this is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us” (1 John 5:14). The next t

ASK WHAT YOU WANT

“And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you” (John 16:23).  Jesus lets us know that His Name is effective before the Father. In His Name, you can ask the Father for anything. Before you were born again you were undeserving of God’s attention and blessings, but Jesus took your place and died for you. From the moment you received Christ, and made Him the Lord of your life, you became worthy of His attention, deserving of His kindness and all of His blessings. Why? Because you’re now in Christ Jesus, therefore your righteousness is not the righteousness of your acts, but the righteousness of His acts. His righteousness has qualified you for His blessings, and made you worthy and rightly positioned to enjoy God’s best: “Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified {and} made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God’s holy people) in the Light” (Colossians

BRING FORTH YOUR STRONG REASONS

Do you know you can argue your case before the Lord in prayer? Yes, you can turn your closet into a courtroom and bring forth your strong reasons for demanding a particular change, or insisting that things turn out in a certain way for you or for your loved ones. The Bible says, “Produce your cause, saith the Lord; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob” (Isaiah 41:21). It’s serious and intense prayer, the kind for which you shut your door and say, “I must have a miracle today!” What if after praying for a while, you’re still not satisfied that it’s done? Well, that just means “case adjourned!” Your prayer closet now becomes a courtroom where you plead your case. If you’re not yet convinced it’s done, go back to the Word, research and produce more evidence. Pray earnestly in the spirit, i.e. in other tongues. Even if you have to stop praying to go to work, when you have a break or a little time alone, continue in prayer. If you have the time in the car while on

SPEND TIME IN FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD

Around the world, there are Christians who think that praying is something we do only when we face challenges that require divine intervention. This is a misconception that would make prayer less productive and delightful.  Prayer is more than an opportunity to get God to do something for us when we have tried other means that failed. Prayer is fellowship with God; a time when we commune with God and synchronize ourselves with His purpose for lives daily. This is very important to every Christian who desires to live a purposeful and fulfilled life here on earth.  The more time you spend in fellowship with the Lord in prayer, the more of His character and personality are revealed in and through you; you will find out that your thoughts are constantly inundated with inspirations from the Word of God, and the things you do will align with His plans for your life. Your heart will always be pure towards men, and you would always see the good in people. Prayer conditions your Spirit, ma

INTERCEDE FOR YOUR LEADERS.

Ć¼    Praying for the leaders of your country is the only effective mechanism that can bring about a government that will be responsive and genuinely cater for the yearnings of the overwhelming majority. There is no amount of political or social agitation that can reverse the dismal state of the economy of any nation except the prayers of God’s people.  The socio-political or economic progress of your nation is not dependent on politicians and those in government; it is solely dependent on your words and the fervency of your prayers for those at the hem of affairs in your country! Even if they are not born again, you’re obliged to pray for them. You may have issues with their leadership style; you may not share same political ideologies with them, yet you still have the responsibility of interceding for them as a Christian.  Learn to bless your country; refrain from speaking in negative terms against your country. Change the situation through prayers and a good confession. Proverbs
