We must stand as soldiers upon this earth doing our Father’s job. As long as you do your Father’s job, you will be happy. But when you don’t, there will be a lack of warmth and joy in your life. It doesn’t matter how rich you are, or how many friends you have, you can never really be happy except you do the job of your Father; and that’s bringing God’s Word alive to people around you, touching them with the Word of God and winning souls into His Kingdom. Many people mistake believing for faith; but believing is not faith, and faith is not believing. When you receive God’s Word into your heart and believe what it says, that’s just the first step; there must be corresponding action to your believing. “I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons” (Psalm 16:7). In our opening scripture, David talks about his “reins” instructing him in the night seasons. This refers to the human spirit. He reveals the importance of listening to God’s instructions from within. The Apostle Paul calls the human spirit the “inward man” (2 Corinthians 4:16), while Peter describes him as the hidden man of the heart (1 Peter 3:4). This is because the human spirit is not visible to the physical eyes. The Bible says in John 4:24 “God is a Spirit…” hence, we can only make contact with Him through our spirits.
