POWER TO EFFECT CHANGES

“ But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and unto the uttermost part of the earth ” (Acts 1:8) Literally, “power” means the possession of controlling influence, superiority or authority. In the Bible, two different words are translated “power” from the original Greek writings. The first is “ exousia ,” and the second is “ dunamis .” Our focus today is on the second. Acts 1:8 says, “ But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you …” “Dunamis” translated “power” here refers to divine energy, might, strength for wonderful works, or miracle-working ability. It means inherent power, or the dynamic ability to cause changes. This power is what you received when the Holy Spirit came to live in you! This means, you can do supernatural things because you’ve got power to effect changes. Now that you’re born again, Christ lives in you, and He has empowered ...

PRAYING WITH THE SPIRIT ACTIVATES THE POWER WITHIN

God is a Spirit, and to relate with Him you’ve got to do so from your spirit. The Bible says they that worship God, must worship Him in spirit and in truth  (John 4:23) .   So when you pray in tongues, it’s your spirit that is praying; you’re communing or relating with the Lord as it were, from your spirit. Praying from your spirit or with your spirit lights up and opens up your spirit to hear and receive from God. Notice what the Apostle Paul says to the Corinthian church,  “ What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also ” 1 Corinthians 14:15. He gave the pre-eminence to praying with the spirit rather than the understanding. The Bible says  “ But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost ” (Jude1:20). Praying with the Spirit, or praying by the power of the Holy Spirit is more important than ...

A CONTINUAL OVERFLOW

“ And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit ” (Ephesians 5:18). In our opening scripture, the Apostle Paul was writing to the Ephesian church which was already acquainted with the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. So he wasn’t telling them to receive the Holy Spirit afresh, but that they should be continually filled with the Spirit. In Acts chapter 2, when Peter and the other believers received the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, they were filled with the Holy Spirit, simultaneously. But they continued to experience other times of infilling. An account is recorded in Acts 4:31: “… when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness .” This wasn’t referring to the Apostles alone, but all the other believers with them. A Christian who has received the Holy Spirit without experiencing this continual infilling will live an ordinar...

NEVER BE ASHAMED!

“ He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them .” (1 Samuel 2:8) Many live their lives in sadness and gloom because of the circumstances of their birth. Some are too discouraged to have hope for a bright future because they were born into a poor family, city or country. They assume all is lost for them, but that’s not true! When you’re in Christ, it makes no difference what the social or financial status of your earthly parents is, or the economic situation in the country. It doesn’t count anymore. There’s no rule or law anywhere, which states that a person who was born in a palace will do better than the one born in the countryside. In fact, the worse the circumstances of your birth, the greater the potentials of your testimony! Peradventure you came from a very poor, terrible-look...

RECOGNIZE HIS GRACE

“ But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ .” (Ephesians 4:7) How wonderful this is! Each one of us has been given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. We’ve all been given grace to excel in life. The Greek word for grace is “ Charis ,” which is the root of the English word “charisma.” “Charis” refers to the divine influence on the human spirit that reflects on the outside of a man’s life, producing favor, beauty, goodwill, loveliness, and ability. It’s the glory of God in your spirit which reflects on the outside. This grace causes favor and glory to abound in your life. For example, when the Lord Jesus was a child, the Bible says He “… grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him ” (Luke 2:40). Grace made Him, even as a child, to have favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). The grace of God on your life is the divine ability in you to be successful in every endeavor, and yo...

HE SEEKS YOUR FELLOWSHIP

“ The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen .” (2 Corinthians 13:14) The Greek word translated “communion” above is “koinonia,” which also means fellowship, participation, and partnership. This means it’s possible for a man to have a personal relationship with God, the Creator of heaven and earth. He isn’t unapproachable as the religious folks try to make us believe. Actually, the Bible reveals that He longs for your fellowship. When you’re acquainted with the Lord, you’d realize He loves you even in spite of your wrongs. In his epistle to the churches, John said, “ That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ ” (1 John 1:3). So, why does God seeks your fellowship? It’s because you’re His very offspring; you have His life and nature (1 John 5:11-12). Also, the reason God can...

READ YOUR RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL. YOUR SPIRITUAL ORIGIN - PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME SUNDAY, MARCH 13TH, 2016.

They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world (John 17:16). In John 6:38, Jesus said, “For I came down from heaven….” What a powerful, inspiring, and extraordinary declaration from the lips of the Master! He said, “…I came down from heaven….” “How is this possible? Didn’t we read that He was born of a virgin in a little town called Bethlehem? So, how did He come from heaven?” Some have wondered. First, you need to understand that Jesus never minced words. He was always succinct and unambiguous in His communication. When He said, “I came down from heaven,” He was speaking of His spiritual origin. This should further help you understand what He meant when He said, “...I am not of this world” (John 8:23). This shows that your origin has nothing to do with your physical birth; the land of your nativity. Those to whom Jesus spoke probably knew where He grew up in Nazareth, His mother, his siblings, etc. The Bible actually records that on a certain day, Jesus went out to...

READ YOUR RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL. MORE THAN A RELIGIOUS CLICHƉ- PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME SATURDAY, MARCH 12TH, 2016.

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). There're those who say "nice" things about us Christians; they tell us Christianity is the best religion in the world. It's kind of them to say such nice words about Christianity, but Christianity isn't a religion at all. As long as many assume Christianity to be a religion, they miss the blessing and impact of the transcendent life in Christ to which we've been called. The Bible never presents Christianity as a religion. The reason many tend to equate Christianity with religion is because of some of the activities in Christianity which are consistent with religion. There may be religion in Christianity; James 1:27 clarifies that for us: "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the...

DON’T EXCUSE SICKNESS

The bible makes us understand in Isaiah 33:24 that ’’And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity’’. Some people have a hard time accepting the supernatural life Christ has made available for everyone who believes in Him. They find it strange to think and accept that it’s actually possible to live on earth without being sick. Some even buttress their claims with what Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12:7-9: “…there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I be sought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” - See more at: http://onlinemissions.christembassy.org/home/Everydayanswer#sthash.Y3H9LgfB.dpuf

BE STRONG, BE COURAGEOUS, PREACH THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST WITH BOLDNESS

When it comes to preaching the Gospel, we must do it unafraid. Paul was aware, through the Spirit's witness, that he'd be put in jail, and be in trouble in Jerusalem, yet he was undeterred. He said, "None of these things move me." He was bold and courageous for the Gospel. Refuse to fear. Never get to the point where you're intimidated or overwhelmed by the pressures and adversities of life, to affect your commitment to the Gospel. Never faint or give up in the face of adversity. Be strong. Be courageous. Preach the Gospel with boldness. GIVE YOUR HEART TO JESUS CHRIST TODAY! READ YOUR RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL. PROVE YOUR MINISTRY- PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME THURSDAY, MARCH 10TH, 2016.

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry (2 Timothy 4:5). Did you notice that the Apostle Paul didn’t say God will make proof of your ministry? He also didn’t say you should pray to the Lord to prove your ministry; no! You’re the one to prove your ministry. Notice the underlined portion: “…do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” This shows that it’s your responsibility. Many people live and never even begin what God chose them for, let alone complete it. They live and die without ever entering what God chose them to do in life. Colossians 4:17 says, “And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfill it.” Think about that! Paul writes to the Colossians and tells them to charge a certain brother in the church to pay attention to his God-given ministry, and fulfill it. If it were God’s responsibility to fulfill the man’s ministry, ...

READ YOUR RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL. LET NOTHING STOP YOU – PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9TH, 2016.

And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. But none of these things move me…. (Acts 20:22-24) When it comes to preaching the Gospel, we must do it unafraid. Paul was aware, through the Spirit’s witness, that he’d be put in jail, and be in trouble in Jerusalem, yet he was undeterred. He said, “None of these things move me.” He was bold and courageous for the Gospel. Refuse to fear. Never get to the point where you’re intimidated or overwhelmed by the pressures and adversities of life, to affect your commitment to the Gospel. Never faint or give up in the face of adversity. Be strong. Be courageous. Preach the Gospel with boldness. MARCH 2016 - THE MONTH OF POWER AND AFFIRMATION

The month of March is a special month. It's a month of POWER and AFFIRMATION.  Power here deals with the exercise of authority. Let's read Ephesians 6:10 - 18KJV 10 finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness ; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Your adversaries are not hum...

KEEP THE FAITH

“Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul” (Hebrews 10:38-39). The Scripture shows that in the last days, there’ll be perplexity of nations, men’s hearts failing them for fear. However, we’re not of them that draw back; we  believe to the end. Jesus said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Jesus already overcame the world for you; He gave you victory over Satan and the negative systems and operations in the world; you’re more than a conqueror. Your faith in Christ is the victory that overcomes the world: “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4). Despite the challenges and adversities that you migh...

THE POWER OF YOUR WORDS

“Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!” (James 3:5) One of the greatest gifts that God gave to man is the power to use words. Words are the building blocks of life; they create the image of a man’s life, and the circumstances in it. Words direct the course of life for every man, and they are the power to control your future. Also, words are spiritual elements. This means, wo rds don’t die; they are never lost! Jesus admonishing the Pharisees said, “…every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment” (Matthew 12:36). This shows us the value of words, and why we must consistently speak the right words – faith filled words. Only use words that are consistent with what God has said about you in His Word. Speak words of faith, love, hope, health, prosperity, success and victory always. Don’t say what you perceive with your physical senses; rather, agree with, confess, ...

PUT YOUR MIND TO WORK

Information is the key to today’s world and anyone who wants to win cannot afford to be ignorant. Information is the key to knowledge and knowledge is indispensable in our contemporary world, because the man who lacks adequate wisdom will always be at the mercy of the one who has it. The Bible says in 2 Peter 1:5…“Add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge” .God wants you to develop in knowledge. Interestingly, the kind of knowledge this Scripture is talking about is not revelation knowledge. It’s talking about the kind of knowledge that comes from intellectual or mental ability. In essence, God is saying that he wants His children to become erudite; he wants your mind incisive and your reasoning sharpened. Without doubt, the Word of God is the most important source of knowledge. However, you must constantly put your mind to work by studying useful materials to keep you updated with the latest information in the world today. The good news is that you have a sound mind ...

HIS PRESENCE MAKES YOU HOLY

“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love” (Ephesians 1:4). The doctrine of holiness is one that’s been grossly misconstrued by many in the Church. Many equate holiness with “sinlessness,” but holiness has nothing to do with what you do. The presence of God in your life is what makes you holy. The entire doctrine of holiness in the Bible, from the Old Testament to the New Testament, has nothing do with your actions; rather, it has to do with who you are and where you are. Only a holy man can live holy; you can’t “practice” holiness to become holy. Holiness is actually positional; God’s presence in, and upon you, makes you holy. You have to first be holy, before you can live a holy life. This is why in Christ, we’re made holy by grace, and thus expected to live accordingly. For example, the Bible describes Mount Sinai as a holy mountain because God stepped on it. The mountain didn’t do ...
