As Christians, we must strive at having effective prayer lives. Prayer is not only a fellowship, it’s also a  labor.  And it’s wrong for us to pray only when we feel like it. Our bodies and minds may not enjoy praying and can rebel against it because prayer doesn’t appeal to our minds and senses. Many times we make the mistake of putting off praying till the end of the day, but by the time we are through with the activities of the day, we are so tired and drowsy and our thoughts start wondering while we are praying. At this stage,  labor  comes into prayer; a fight to keep yourself on track against the dictates of the flesh. This requires ample training and you must be resolved to stick with your prayer schedule. Some Christians may find it difficult to do this, but the reason is they haven’t been able to discipline their flesh. If you can train your mind and body to go to work every day of the week, without ever considering getting to work late, or missing work for a day; then

  1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 says: "Pray continually; 18 Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus". For 15 mins at 12 noon and 10 pm (Local/GMT), we'll pray mostly in tongues, and in accordance with this scripture, worshiping the Lord and giving thanks to Him in whatever circumstances we are, knowing that we've been ordained to receive answers to our prayers, and He who promised is faithful, declaring that all things work together for good to them who love God, who are the called according to His purpose. God is a Spirit, and to relate with Him you’ve got to do so from your spirit. The Bible says they that worship God, must worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23). So when you pray in tongues, it’s your spirit that is praying; you’re communing or relating with the Lord as it were, from your spirit. Praying from your spirit or with your spirit lights up and opens up your spirit to hear and receive from God. Notice what the Apostle Paul says to the Corinthian church, “What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also” 1 Corinthians 14:15. He gave the pre-eminence to praying with the spirit rather than the understanding. The Bible says “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost”(Jude 1:20). As a Christian, your words are not empty; what you say comes to pass. You can talk to anything, including your body. You can talk to negative situations such sickness and disease, and they will surely obey you. This spiritual renewal and refreshing is what keeps you afloat with joy, even in the midst of challenging situations. Praying in other tongues refreshes your spirit, your soul and your body; never forget that. Thus, the next time you feel as though you’re almost overwhelmed or wearied with the hustle and bustle of the day’s activities, take some time to refresh yourself by praying in other tongues. There’s no dryness at all in the lives of those who pray often in other tongues, for out of their innermost beings flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). Make a habit of praying in tongues at all times, and it’ll keep you continually refreshed, vitalized, strengthened and renewed. Praise God!

   There comes a time when you have to take things by force. You have to stand on your healing by force. You have to stand on God’s Word by force, especially when things around you want to make it look like the Word does not work. You must command yourself to walk in the knowledge of God’s Word. I force my body to pray. I force my mind to study God’s Word. I see God’s Word for me as the final authority. When you recognize God’s Word as a commission and a command, and you stay on the Word, and pray without ceasing, then you can be in control. Your commands should be issued when you pray and speak God’s Word, not issued to other people around.
