READ YOUR RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL YIELDING TO THE DOMINION OF THE WORD – PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME SUNDAY, JUNE 11TH .

In yielding to the dominion of the Word, there’re certain fundamentals to note; these are knowledge, meditation, and faith proclamations. First and foremost, you must know the Word, and let it guide your thoughts, words and actions. In Hosea 4:6, God said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge….” He wasn’t talking about their lack of general knowl

BECOME COMMITTED TO PRAYER.

As Christians, we must strive at having effective prayer lives. Prayer is not only a fellowship, it’s also a labor. And it’s wrong for us to pray only when we feel like it. Our bodies and minds may not enjoy praying and can rebel against it because prayer doesn’t appeal to our minds and senses. Many times we make the mistake of putting off praying till the end of the day, but by the time we are through with the activities of the day, we are so tired and drowsy and our thoughts start wondering while we are praying. At this stage, labor comes into prayer; a fight to keep yourself on track against the dictates of the flesh. This requires ample training and you must be resolved to stick with your prayer schedule. Some Christians may find it difficult to do this, but the reason is they haven’t been able to discipline their flesh. If you can train your mind and body to go to work every day of the week, without ever considering getting to work late, or missing work for a day; then you c

CULTIVATING GODLY HABITS

According to his usual habit Paul went to the synagogue. There during three Sabbaths he held discussions with the people… (Acts 17:2 GNB). Some habits program you positively for success, while some others program you negatively for failure. For example, a student who stays up late to watch movies is definitely programming himself wrongly. He shouldn’t expect to turn out the same way with another who’s studious at night, and spends his time wisely. The latter will most likely end up an excellent student, while the former ends up average or even obtuse. Human beings are born with “wild” instincts; they come into the world as babies who are uncultured and untamed. As they grow, their inherent “wildness” makes it easier for them to pick up bad habits faster than good ones. This explains why a child may start telling lies without anyone necessarily teaching him how to. As he continues in it, it forms his character. Thus the Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go:

SUPERNATURAL INSTRUCTIONS

“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it” (Romans 12:2 MSG). One of the ways of training your human spirit is educating your spirit to respond to God at once; learning to respond quickly to His instructions. A lot of the problems many of God’s children get themselves into would be averted if only they respond quickly to the Holy Spirit. Sometimes you may find yourself in fellowship with certain people the Spirit of God doesn’t want you to make friends with, and then He tells you to distance yourself from them. Obey immediately. Consciously train yourself to respond quickly to His voice. Don’t let Him have to repeat instructions to you over and over again. Remember, God’s guidance in your life doesn’t have to be spectacular. If it’s from the Holy Spirit, it’s supernatural and can be truste

THE HOLY SPIRIT: OUR INTERCESSOR

The Holy Spirit goes with you as your Intercessor, but He also carries out His intercessory ministry through you, a believer. If a Christian has a problem or is in trouble, the Holy Spirit is the One who will pray for him. Does He do this by Himself? No, He doesn’t. How could God pray for you by Himself? It would be illegal for Him to do that. He prays for us only through another believer in Christ Jesus who’s filled with the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not human. He doesn’t have a human body, so He works through us. To explain that with the scriptures, let’s take a look at Romans 8:26: “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself (Himself) maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” This means we don’t always know what we should pray for, and how to pray about them, “…but the Spirit himself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.” Now, if you’ve

THE FULLNESS OF THE SPIRIT

“For him whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the spirit by measure to him.” (John 3:34) When the Spirit of God came upon the prophets, priests, judges and kings of old, they received the anointing in a measure. But the Bible says of Jesus: “For him who God has sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Holy Spirit by measure unto him” (John 3: 34). Jesus was the first to have the Spirit of God (or the anointing) in His fullness. Christians have said this applied only to Jesus (that He alone had the fullness of God’s Spirit) and that those of us who are born again today only have a measure of the Spirit; meaning we don’t have the fullness of God’s Spirit. But in the light of God’s Word, that’s not true. The Bible says, “and of His fullness have we all received, and grace for grace” (John 1:16) More so, the Holy spirit, as a person, lives in us today in His fullness. So, we have the fullness of the Spirit. The Bible says in Christ Jesus dwell

THE HOLY SPIRIT OUR INTERCESSOR

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Romans 8:26) How comforting to know that the Holy Spirit bears us up in the hour of need, when we don’t know what to pray for as we ought! He intercedes – prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words (Romans 8:26 CEV). How does He do it? He does it through you! This is one of the reasons it’s important to pray more in the spirit, and listen to the signals and intuitions of God’s Spirit when you pray. The Holy Spirit requires our vocal faculties to carry out His intercessory ministry through us. He prompts you and gives you the urge to speak in tongues, and when that urge comes, don’t relent or hesitate because it’s from the Holy Spirit who may be seeking to save you or your loved ones from imminent mishap. Yield yourself to the intercessory ministry of the Holy Spirit today.

THE TRANSLATIONAL POWER OF THE SPIRIT!

“…Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God” (Hebrews 11:5) Like Enoch, you can walk with the Spirit of God with such translational power that you won’t see death, which is not just the cessation of biological life, but also sickness, defeat, destruction, failure, stagnation and retrogression. This translational power refers to the transportation of the Holy Spirit that puts you in a place of advantage. Jeremiah 17:8 aptly describes the one who has been so transported by the Spirit: “…he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” This means the problems that destroy other people can’t get a hold of him, because he’s always transported above them by the

ALWAYS CONSULT WITH THE SPIRIT

“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye” (Psalm 32:8) The Holy Spirit can tell you what to do in every situation so you can always win in life. Many are frustrated because they never consult with Him on the right steps to take. They’d rather go to their relatives and friends to help them out of trouble. Sadly, those they meet for help only provide them counsel that doesn’t work, because it’s based on human reasoning and sense knowledge. Learn to consult with the Holy Spirit for answers. Ask Him for guidance and direction concerning everything you do. When you face challenges that seem insurmountable, call on Him, and He’ll tell you what to do; He’ll give you the strategies to employ. The great men and women we read about in Scriptures understood this truth, which was why they never took a major step until they had consulted with the Lord. Learn to trust the Holy Spirit; depend on Him at all times, for He’s with you, i

This is the Lord’s desire for you. Whatever the need, irrespective of the circumstances, He wants you to be self-sufficient, so much so that you require no aid or support. But you see, He wants you to get big enough for others. The reason for being self-sufficient in all things is for you to abound in good works. That immediately brings something to mind: you really don’t live for yourself, but for other people. Galatians 6:10 says, “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household

If you were involved in a project, perhaps, in the house of God, and you were to give a thousand dollars, don’t make your contribution legalistic. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God" At 10pm (Local/GMT), we'll pray in tongues of the spirit for all 15min, yielding ourselves to the ministry of the Holy Spirit in deep intercession. The epistles aren’t just ordinary writings or mere letters; they’re the out breathing of the Spirit to the Church. That’s why they’re called “Epistles to the Church.” So, the Apostle Peter, in the above text, was referring to, and addressing those of us that are born again. Let’s examine and review the powerful thoughts in the verse. First, notice the tenses in the phrase: “But ye are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedic

The love-way is the right way. Jesus didn’t get offended at those who abused and tortured Him; rather He said, “…Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do…” (Luke 23:34). So, why would a Christian get so offended by someone who said something against him and say, “In the Name of Jesus Christ, I command their house to burn; I command fire upon their heads”; that’s unwise. Some people go to the extent of studying a book of curses to learn how to curse others, despite what the Bible says, “Bless them which persecute you: bless,

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

“And seek the peace of the city…and pray unto the lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace”. When you turn on your radio or television, you’ll see pictures of people devastated by wars, earthquakes, tornadoes, famine and flood in different nations of world. As Christians, we can’t just sit down with our arms folded and allow the devil go on rampage, destroying millions of lives all of over the world. We have a responsibility to cause changes in our respective countries, and this can only be achieved through prayer. Someone once said, “The only ingredient required for the evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing”. The reality of this is more compelling in our world today. Most Christians assume someone else is praying for the country, whereas nobody is. They look around and see many great ministers of the gospel, and they unconsciously leave all the praying to them. Never put the fate of your country in the hands of others. This is the thought God communicat

INTERCEDE FOR YOUR LEADERS.

Praying for the leaders of your country is the only effective mechanism that can bring about a government that will be responsive and genuinely cater for the yearnings of the overwhelming majority. There is no amount of political or social agitation that can reverse the dismal state of the economy of any nation except the prayers of God’s people. The socio-political or economic progress of your nation is not dependent on politicians and those in government; it is solely dependent on your words and the fervency of your prayers for those at the hem of affairs in your country! Even if they are not born again, you’re obliged to pray for them. You may have issues with their leadership style; you may not share same political ideologies with them, yet you still have the responsibility of interceding for them as a Christian. Learn to bless your country; refrain from speaking in negative terms against your country. Change the situation through prayers and a good confession. Proverbs 11:11

THE EARNEST PRAYER OF THE RIGHTEOUS

The Apostle Paul, in 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2, asked the saints to pray for him and other ministers with him, that they may be delivered from wicked and unreasonable men who were against the faith and the preaching of the Gospel. He wanted the Word of God to grow mightily and prevail among the gentiles. When decrees or laws are enacted, which are against the preaching of the Gospel, we must become aware that such things are done by wicked and unreasonable men who have found their way into power for their selfish gains. But God expects us to stop them through prayer. And we are given the assurance that we have His attention when we pray against such things. There is so much power in the Church, but we can’t discover the extent and potency of the power we possess with our mouths shut. For the power to be effective we need to pray and declare what we want to see in our countries; we have the divine authority to cause a change through prayers. All that’s necessary is for one righteous m

PRAYER: YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE ADVERSE SITUATIONS!

Never stop praying, especially for others…stay alert and keep praying for God’s people (Ephesians 6:18 CEV) . Someone once said that the only ingredient for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. This statement is indeed true, especially because a lot of Christians try to make God responsible for what is actually their responsibility. They make such statements like, “If God didn’t want that thing to happen, why did He let it happen?” The authority to change things on the earth has been delegated to us. We have the responsibility of changing things, and one of the ways we do this is through prayer. The Bible gives us an example of the consequence of not taking up our responsibility. Herod had arrested James, the brother of John. Probably the brethren were thinking, “Herod doesn’t know the anointing on Brother James; he’ll be out of there in no time.” They did nothing. Suddenly someone rushed in with the news: “Brother James has been killed!” James was no ordinary discipl

DON’T STOP UNTIL THERE’S A CHANGE!

Do you know your persistency in prayer is absolutely vital to changing your circumstances? Sometimes when you have a matter to settle or you desire a change in a situation you don’t have full jurisdiction over, you have to continue in prayer until that change comes. Now this doesn’t negate faith nor mean you’re unbelieving. Actually, the reason you choose not to give up or shift grounds is because you’re acting your faith. The Bible says that ’’… The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available (dynamic in its working) (James 5:16 b AMP)’’ . Many are too used to praying “emergency prayers” that don’t work. They wait until the pressure mounts and then start pushing panic-buttons and praying fast prayers for fast answers. But Elijah knew better. We read in our opening scripture what he did when he wanted a miracle: he cast himself down upon the earth and put his head between his knees, praying heartfelt, continued prayer (1 Kings 18:42- 44)

CHOOSE TO PRAY

“I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting” (1 Timothy 2:8) As a Christian, prayer is your life’s work, and the best way to learn to pray is to pray. It’s not enough to pray only when you feel like it; culture yourself to do it whether or not you feel like. Jesus said in Luke 18:1, “…men ought always to pray, and not to faint” He didn’t say, “men ought always to pray when they feel like!” Moreover, you have the power to decide what you want to do, so choose to pray. Take for example, Paul’s admonition to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:2: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” Here, the Spirit of God teaches us something important, letting us know that whether or not we feel like it, in every season, we ought to preach the Gospel. The same thing applies with prayer; you pray in season and out of season! So there’s no excuse not to pray. Make a decision to pray

PRAYER FINE-TUNES YOUR SPIRIT

“The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly” (Proverbs 20:27) God leads and guides you through your spirit, not through your mind, and that’s why the Bible calls your spirit ‘the candle of the Lord.’ Your spirit functions like an antenna, scanning the spirit realm to pick the signals of the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is always speaking, but sometimes you may not be alert spiritually as you should to hear what He is saying. This is why praying in tongues is so important: it makes your spirit more sensitive to God. Praying in tongues fine-tunes your spirit, much the same way you fine tune your television or radio set to get perfect signals. Spiritual signals are always being released from the realm of the Spirit, but your spiritual antenna has to be raised and tuned to receive those divine words of blessing, instruction, direction and counsel coming forth from the throne of heaven. When you’re in tune with the Spirit you won’t li

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all… (Galatians 4:1-2). An heir is someone who has an inheritance bequeathed to him, a legal inheritor of something: an estate or position of high authority and wealth. However, this heir, as long as he remains a “child” (Greek: “Nepios”) will live in servitude because of his immaturity, despite being the legal inheritor of a vast estate. The characteristic thing about a “nepios” is that he can’t talk right; he doesn’t have the intelligence of a mature person, and as a result, he’s unable to communicate sensibly with his speech. Some Christians are that way; they haven’t mastered the use of their to

JUNE - THE MONTH OF PRAYER - PRAY FOR GOD’S PEOPLE

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you… (2 Thessalonians 3:1) . It’s our priestly ministry as believers to pray for our fellow brothers and sisters everywhere in the world, that through them, God’s Word will be preached in the nooks and crannies of our world. Paul in his epistles, admonished believers to pray for his missionary work: “Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us as a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds” (Colossians 4:3). This lets us know that we also must pray that the Holy Spirit will grant God’s people utterance and opportunities to preach the gospel where they are. In the scripture we just read, Paul highlighted two important points: utterance and opportunities. You might have the utterance and not have the opportunity to preach the Gospel, and vice versa; this is the reason we must intercede as admonished by the Spirit thro
