TREASURES IN THE MIDST OF ADVERSITIES – PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries (1 Corinthians 16:8-9).  The Apostle Paul, in the scripture above acknowledged that a great and effectual window of opportunity was open to him for ministry in Ephesus. Howbeit, it was an opportunity in the midst of adversities. He was sensitive enough in his spirit not to see the opportunity alone; he saw the many adversaries as well. It’s like finding a treasure amongst thorns and thistles; and in a sense, that’s a trap. If you must take that treasure, you must then know what to do with the adversaries. The adversaries that Paul referred to weren’t just negligible enemies; they were ferocious! When he recounted his experience later, he said, “For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life” (2 Corinthians 1:8). Then in 1 Cor

THE TRIUMPHANT LIFE

“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life” (1 John 5:11-12). Biology and Medicine teach that life is transmitted through blood. This is also revealed in the Old Testament, the Bible says the life of the flesh is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11). But when you’re born again, you cease to live by the blood that flows through your physical body. So, what, or who then gives life to the new creation man? It’s the Holy Spirit: “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (give life to) your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you” (Romans 8:11). That life is ZoĆ« – the God life! If you have this life in you and you are conscious of it, sickness, disease and infirmity cannot thrive in your body. That life destroys infection. Understand this, sickness and disease

LIVE FROM ABOVE

“And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world” (John 8:23). When Jesus told the Jews, “You’re from beneath and I’m from above,” He certainly wasn’t referring to His physical origin but His spiritual origin. He is the Word of God that came from heaven (John 1:1; John 6:33). Now, if you’re born again, you’re born, not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible seed, which is the Word of God that lives and abides forever (1 Peter 1:23). This means you’re born of the Word that came from above and you have the same life from above as Jesus. Thus you can as well declare that you’re from above. This consciousness of your divine origin will change the way you live. Perhaps everyone in your neighborhood is catching the flu, you should declare, “No, not me. I’m from above, and we don’t catch the flu where I’m from!” This is how you train yourself in the consciousness of the life you’ve received. Remember, Jesus said you’re not o

THE POWER OF YOUR THOUGHTS

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). Thoughts are pictures of the mind that have constructive or destructive potential. Thoughts also have power and create realities. The quickest way to affect your thoughts is through mental pictures. You’ve got to see first in your mind the things you desire for your life. In Genesis 15:1, God told Abraham, “Fear not, I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” But instead of Abraham to be excited at God’s Word, he complained bitterly: “Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son? Since I don’t have a son, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth” (Genesis 15:2-3 TNLB). God, however, knew what to do to make Abraham believe; He gave him a mental picture. He “…brought him forth abroad, and said, look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and He said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord; and He cou

THE GRACE TO EXCEL

Every Christian has the grace to excel in everything. God is able to direct all the grace you require for anything in this life towards you, such that you’re never behind in competence or ability. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 9:8 that ’’And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work…’’. You’re qualified for any task; that’s what it means to have “all sufficiency in all things”; it means you have all the competencies and special skills required for excellence in every good work. The word translated “sufficiency,” in this context, is the Greek “autarkeia,” which means competence. This indicates a state of self-sufficiency whereby you require no aid or support. God has given you a life that makes you so competent that you don’t require any help! This can work vitally in your life. You can be sufficient in all things; competent in all things. You can be competent in your job, family, academics
