“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory” (1 Peter 1:7-8)
“Joy” in the scripture above is from the Greek word “Chara” which means calm delight or gladness. It also means vivid pleasure arising from a sense of well-being or satisfaction; exultation or gladness. Thus, “joy unspeakable” is the expression of delight beyond what words can caption. It means joy indescribable.
Galatians 5:22 show us fruits of the recreated human spirit, “…the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith…” This underscores the fact that Joy is a fruit of your spirit, and you have it in you. This joy that God has given you is independent of circumstances, and His desire is for His joy to be in you twenty-four hours a day, irrespective of the circumstances you face. This joy flows from your spirit and rubs off on everything else around you.
That’s what the Bible describes it as joy unspeakable and full of glory (1 Peter 1:8).
Live out the Joy in you today. Praise God!
