Thoughts are pictures of the mind that have constructive or destructive potential. Thoughts also have power and create realities. The quickest way to affect your thoughts is through mental pictures. You've got to see first in your mind the things you desire for your life.
In Genesis 15:1, God told Abraham, “Fear not I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” But instead of Abraham to be excited at God’s Word, he complained bitterly: “Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son? Since I don’t have a son, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth” (Genesis 15:2-3 TNLB).
God, however, knew what to do to make Abraham believe; He gave him a mental picture. He “…brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and He said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord; and He counted it to him for righteousness” (Genesis 15:5-6). That picture of having offspring as innumerable as the stars in the sky helped Abraham believe God’s Word and think the right thoughts. He went on to receive God’s promise and Isaac was born. Make a practice of forming the right images in your mind based on God’s Word. When you do, those thoughts will create realities.
