JESUS WAS NOT A MARTYR

“Surely he hath borne our grieves, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”(Isaiah 53:4-5).

The Scripture above is about Jesus, the Lamb of God Who was slain from the foundation of the world. Some people think He was a great martyr, but that’s not true. Jesus was not a martyr; He didn’t die for His beliefs. He was a sacrifice, and there’s a great difference between the two. As a sacrifice, He died for us. Notice the Bible says, “…he was wounded for our transgressions” not for His transgressions.

According to God’s Word, Jesus bore our grieves and carried our sorrows. Why? So we don’t have to bear them anymore! He suffered for us so we don’t have to suffer anymore. This is so important; in fact, this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He brought salvation to us, that if we would believe on Him, then we would receive the life that He gives – eternal life from God Almighty! John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
