“And a certain man was there, which had an
infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had
been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled,
to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me” (John 5:5-7).
Some people don’t know the difference between complaining to the Lord and
making a request of Him. When Jesus met the sick man at the pool of Bethesda,
He asked him, “Do you want to be made whole?” Instead of the man to request His
help, he started complaining. This was his character, and he could have missed
his miracle, but for the compassion of Jesus.
Your attitude in prayer determines whether or
not you’ll receive what you desire. Don’t have a complaining attitude.
Complaints don’t work with God. He has shown us what works in His Word; it says
“Don’t worry about anything, but
pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests
to God” (Philippians 4:6 CEV). John
16:24 says, “Hitherto
have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may
be full.” Praise God!
