“And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world” (John 8:23).
When Jesus told the Jews, “You’re from beneath and I’m from above,” He certainly wasn’t referring to His physical origin but His spiritual origin. He is the Word of God that came from heaven (John 1:1; John 6:33).
Now, if you’re born again, you’re born, not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible seed, which is the Word of God that lives and abides forever (1 Peter 1:23). This means you’re born of the Word that came from above and you have the same life from above as Jesus. Thus you can as well declare that you’re from above. This consciousness of your divine origin will change the way you live.
Perhaps everyone in your neighborhood is catching the flu, you should declare, “No, not me. I’m from above, and we don’t catch the flu where I’m from!” This is how you train yourself in the consciousness of the life you’ve received. Remember, Jesus said you’re not of the world, even as He is not of the world (John 17:16). Praise God!
