Just like a new-born baby is fed with natural food to enhance its growth and well being, so also does God expect the one who’s born again to feed, and keep feeding, on the Word. We’re born of the Word: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever” (1 Peter 1:23). Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Peter 1:4). In Christ Jesus, we have the transcendent life; a life of glory, virtue, and excellence. It’s a daily experience of the miraculous, and walk in the supernatural. Jesus proved that this is possible. When He walked the earth, He was one hundred per cent man and one hundred per cent God. He manifested the divine life, and the supernatural was His daily walk. As Christians, we’re partakers of His divine nature (2 Peter 1:4); as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). Therefore, like Him, we’re called to live perpetually in the supernatural, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it … (Romans 12:2 MSG). One of the ways of training your human spirit is educating him to respond to God at once; learning to respond quickly to His instructions. A lot of the problems many of God’s children get themselves into would be averted if only they respond quickly to the Holy Spirit. Imagine a guy driving on a journey, and somehow begins to feel sleepy, the Spirit says to him, “get a convenient place to stop and rest awhile.” He ignores that voice and continues in his journey. Then before he knows it, he veers off the road or crashed into a ditch somewhere. “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9). According to this Scripture, the Lord Jesus came to make us rich. But there are Christians who assume poverty is necessary to live a godly life. I’ve even heard a minister pledge to poverty. I think that’s absurd! Poverty might be the mark of religion but it’s definitely not the mark of Christianity. In 1980, at a ministers’ conference that I was privileged to attend, T. L. Osborn made a remarkable statement that stirred much controversy then. He said, “Poverty is a sin.” I’m sure this statement will stir up as much controversy today as it did then. It’s imperative that we correct the impression that poverty is a prerequisite for serving God. Otherwise, 2 Corinthians 8:9 will be false and meaningless. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God (2 Corinthians 3:5). The Spirit of God can bestow on you supernatural ability, and then suddenly, you’ll discover there’re certain things you’re able to do; you’ll supernaturally exhibit talents, skills, or proficiencies in areas you never knew you could. We’ve received such testimonies about certain people who were never formally schooled, but somehow, by the supernatural ability of the Spirit, they picked up the Bible and could read and understand it. Some others found themselves functioning with extraordinary wisdom of the Spirit in ability, understanding, intelligence, knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to devise skilful and artistic works. Someone may ask, “How's that possible?” It's by the anointing of the Holy Spirit. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations (James 1:2). There’re some Christians who, even though they’ve been born again for a long time, still love to be “babied.” When facing challenges, rather than squaring up to those challenges by putting their faith to work, they go seeking prayers and encouragement. They like to hear such words as, “Don’t worry; God is going to turn your worst into your best, and make a way where there seems to be no way.” But that’s not good enough. Don’t stay at the level where you’re always being pulled up; always looking for someone to encourage you, hoping that everything would work out for your good. Square up to the problem! The Bible says, Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). This verse of scripture is quite instructive; it says although Jesus was rich, He made Himself poor, so that you, through His poverty might be made rich. Someone may say, “Oh yes! He became poor for us spiritually”; no. Paul wasn’t talking about spiritual riches and spiritual poverty, because Jesus never became any less the Son of God in His physical body than He was in the bosom of the Father. When you study the entire chapter in context, you’d understand that He was talking about financial and material prosperity. For our sake, He laid down His reputation, His riches, His wealth; He laid down everything and identified Himself with us, and took our place. He became us. Everything He did was for your sake. But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit (Jude 1:20 AMP). Progress means advancement; moving forward. Progress must be measurable, otherwise, it’s not progress. You must have goals; if you don’t have definite goals, you may not be able to really measure your progress. In making progress there’re certain things you must consider. First, locate your present position in that area of your life in which you desire to make progress. Is it in your health, finances, job, business, or your family? Whatever it is, locate your present position. Secondly, envision what the next level will be for you. Thirdly, determine what you must do to get to your next level. That means your input in terms of effort, time, and resources. Resources could refer to money, materials, information, etc. Fourthly and finally, take action; do what you need to do to get you the results you want. Othe...

And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory (Exodus 29:43). In worship, God talks to us. As you minister to Him, He ministers to your spirit as well. Heaven is never silent on the worshiper. When you need direction, guidance or a supernatural intervention, worship the Lord. In Acts 13:1-2, the Bible says, “ ...as they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost said...” letting us know that the power of God’s Spirit is manifested in an atmosphere of true worship. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven (Luke 10:18). There’s an account in the Bible where the Scribes accused Jesus of casting out devils by the prince of devils, Beelzebub. In His response, Jesus asked them an interesting question: “How can Satan cast out Satan?” In Matthew 12:25-26, He said to them, “...Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand.” What Jesus is letting us know is that Satan has a structured kingdom that’s not divided; he has fallen angels. He said in Mark 3:27, “No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.” He’s still dealing with the same subject. Be sensible and don’t tell everything you know... (Proverbs 12:23 CEV). When you walk with the Lord, He gives you visions for your future; visions about your life, the things He wants to accomplish with you and through you. He causes you to see into the future so you can head for that future. Everybody may not see what you see, or know the future God is guiding you into. But some people try to tell everybody what God is showing them about their future. That’ll be a mistake, except if He’s the one leading you to talk about it. Understand that Satan doesn’t know what you see, until you tell him; he doesn’t know everything. When he hears about what you see, then he starts scheming how to work out a plan to try to stop you. The human spirit or person is influenced by three important factors: principles, relationships, and actions. These three control your plans, purposes, and pursuits in life. A principle is a moral rule, belief or an assumption that controls, influences or explains personal conduct or the behavior of a society. It explains how or why something works or happens the way it does. It’s also a basic theory or truth; an idea that forms the basis for anything. Individuals, families, and even societies can have their own principles, which they created consciously or unconsciously for themselves. These are principles they formed through certain beliefs, ideas, and assumptions in their heads. There’re certain people who, for example, say that they don’t believe in God; they’re living according to a particular principle or thought; an idea in their minds. Now, whether that idea i...

Faith is the substance of your hope; it’s the tangible expression of your hope. The Bible tells us of Abraham, who ’’being not weak in faith, considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God’’ (Romans 4:19-20). Abraham tangibly expressed his hope by giving praise to God; he didn’t allow his physical condition to discourage him. But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries (1 Corinthians 16:8-9).  The Apostle Paul, in the scripture above acknowledged that a great and effectual window of opportunity was open to him for ministry in Ephesus. Howbeit, it was an opportunity in the midst of adversities. He was sensitive enough in his spirit not to see the opportunity alone; he saw the many adversaries as well. It’s like finding a treasure amongst thorns and thistles; and in a sense, that’s a trap. If you must take that treasure, you must then know what to do with the adversaries. The adversaries that Paul referred to weren’t just negligible enemies; they were ferocious!
