Many
years ago, a gentleman told me that he wanted to be a businessman. When I asked
“why?” he stared at me wondering what I meant by that question. You see, it is
not enough to be a businessman; that’s not a vision. Being a doctor, lawyer or
an accountant is not a vision either because your profession shouldn’t be your
vision. You may need to ask yourself this; “what is God’s purpose for me in
this profession?”
The lack of a purpose in life has led to the frustration of so many lives. Some
have become millionaires only to discover that money doesn’t bring
satisfaction, and soon they are looking for something more. Only the Lord can
show a man the purpose for his life. God’s Word says, “moreover whom he did not
predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified:
and whom he justified, them he also glorified” (Romans 8:30).
When
we talk about destiny we are making reference to God’s purpose in your life.
Your profession is not the end in itself but a means to an end. Whether or not
you are going to be a politician, an accountant or a doctor isn’t so important,
because that’s all a part of the process of fulfilling your destiny in God. And
you can know God’s purpose for your life and how to play your role in ensuring
you fulfill that purpose.
What is your purpose
for living? It’s not too late to discover what God wants you to accomplish for
His glory. Get into His Word, spend more time in prayer and fellowship with the
Spirit, and He will guide you in the path you should follow.
