“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3).
To have real fellowship with God you’ve got to be in His class of being. 2 Peter 1:4 says we’re partakers of the divine nature; it means were associates, comrades or fellows with Deity.
Now, it’s not enough to be born of God, you need to mature in fellowship. For example, you can have a son who’s still a toddler, and though you can play with that child, you can’t have real fellowship with him. Real fellowship entails the rubbing of minds–sharing and talking at high levels- where you can understand each other and exchange thoughts.
This is the kind of fellowship God has called us into; it’s beyond making requests of Him in prayer. This kind of fellowship is not a one-way communication. Rather, it’s when God opens your mind to the realms of the spirit for you to understand things at His level. It’s when you see from the mountaintop and communicate from the glory-realm.
The expression “divine nature” derives from the Greek ‘theios phusis,’ which literally means, “an association of the God-kind.” This means that if you’re born again, you’re an associate of the God-kind; you’re in fraternity with divinity! It means you’ve been born into God’s class, with His nature and character in your spirit.
You’re no longer at the mercy of what life hands down to you; rather, you can decide what you want to see because God has placed all things under your feet (Ephesians 1:22). He has made you to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, where you reign victoriously over Satan, sickness, failure and death. This is Christianity!
