What does it take to really make money? Do you know? Well in this post, we’ll share with you the key principles that will turn you into a vibrant money maker.

 Have the Abundance Mindset:
So many people come into the money-making arena from a place where they’re desperate, not having an abundance mindset. They have this “I’ve got to make it work and I’ve got to make this money” agitation about them.

2. It’s All About Value Creation:
The funny thing is that, money is a by-product of value creation. When you try to chase money, it doesn’t come to you. The more you try to chase money, it doesn’t come to you. Have you seen those people who say “I’ve got to make this money,” and yet don’t make it? If you’re more at ease and focused on delivering value, money comes. Instead of sitting and complaining that you’re not making money, ask yourself “what value have I put out there to be deserving of the money?”

Always remember that when you provide the value, people will line up to give you the money for the products or services that you’re providing. If you look at the people who are making lots of money, it’s either they are selling something for a lot of money or they’re impacting a lot of people. You cannot say “O, I want to make a lot of this money but I don’t want to deliver value to anybody.” That’s very selfish and it doesn’t work that way.

3. It Requires Much More Than You Think:
Never forget that making money will always require much more than whatever you’re thinking right now. If you think that to make one million naira, I need this level of efforts or commitment. What you need to do, is to increase that estimate of yours. Multiply by 3 or 5 that effort you think is required and the time frame you think it’ll take you to achieve that amount. This is because it usually it takes much more than you thought it’ll require. This approach helps prepare your mind for what is to come.

4. Get Comfortable With Being Successful:
Another important point about making money is that to be successful, you need both the mindset and the skillset – not just one of them. The mindset refers to the mental associations you have about money and success while the skillset refers to the on-pointness of your product or offer. So without the mindset for instance, your product or service offer won’t matter because your mind is not in the right place. If you have negative associations with money, with whose got money, success and fear of failure or fear of success, you’ll be undermining your own success.

– The Mindset of the Money Maker: You have to develop the right mindset towards success. Learn to become comfortable with being successful. Some people have fear of success more than the fear of failure. Why? This is because they are already used to failure, they know how to fail but do not know how to succeed or how to handle success. So you find that they’re actually not comfortable with success. They say that they want success but they are actually not comfortable with it. You can see this from their behaviour. Even when they make a little bit of money, they’re not comfortable at all. But to have lasting success, you must train yourself to be at peace with being successful. You know some people would do this by deliberately going to work from a hotel lobby because the beautiful environment reinforces in them that desire and dream to be successful. Some others would talk themselves into believing that they were born to be successful and to make a lot of impact. They would talk like that to themselves night and day till their whole being would start accepting those words.
– The Skillset of the Money Maker:If you have the right mindset, that’s all good but then you also need the skillset to back it up because without the skillset, you can’t deliver value to the marketplace. So let’s say that you have all the positive thinking in this world, which is good but if you cannot communicate, you cannot teach, you cannot sell, you cannot blog, you cannot market, you cannot make videos, the mindset wouldn’t matter. You need the skills to bring the value to the marketplace. When you think about it critically, you’ll see a direct relationship between your successes and the skillsets you developed over the years.
5. The Principle of the Slight Edge
This principle supposes that if you read that book or go to that seminar you’ll learn a couple of things that’ll help you move your life and business to another level. That you might already know say 80% of that subject matter shouldn’t stop you. If you can read that book that’ll make you a better leader, why would you not read it? If I can get that slight edge, I’ll go for it.

6. It’s About How You Perceive and Deal with Set Backs and Challenges
Of course there are a lot of things I would change if I had the time to go back and do things all over again. But the one thing am grateful for are the challenges and setbacks that I faced.
These difficulties have helped to make me who I am today.

7. What About Starting A Business?
It is important that you understand that you should not start a business with the wrong intent which is what most people do. Some of the reasons why people have started their own business are:
– they were desperate for cash
– they just had a falling out with their employer and then quit their jobs.
Before you start any business venture, you should ask yourself “why you?” and “why now?” Ask yourself what qualifies you to be in this space and why now, why not two years ago?

In conclusion, my advice to you out there is to focus on developing your skill first before starting a business. And until you have developed your skill very well do not start a business.
