I used to be very terrible when it comes to handling money, not that am now perfect, but things really began to change when I learned to save. I immediately became aware of how much I earn, what it could afford to do for me and what it could not do for me. I realized that in order to have some money left for me to save by month end, I need to give up some lifestyle that I cannot afford. Things changed, I became aware and conscious of what I earn. Before His crucifixion, Jesus broke bread at supper with His disciples and said to them, “This is my body, which is given for you.” This was symbolic of His body which was broken for our sake Taking the communion marks our oneness with Him. He was crucified in our place. Now, when we “break” bread, we’re actually celebrating His finished work—His vicarious sacrifice on the Cross. Jesus also said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:25 RSV). His blood was shed so that sin wouldn’t have any power or control over you. Your new life is a result of the new covenant; you’re what He got for His sacrifice! So, the next time you take the Communion, remember these things and declare them in prayer, thanking God for all that Jesus has achieved for you.
